Grey with a Splash of "Yella"

I am getting my decorating boots back on. I have recently moved from Austin to the Pacific Northwest and have spent most of the summer unpacking and painting my own house. But I am ready to go! So its time to start really looking around to see whats going on in the decorating world!
My new favorite - grey and yellow. I actually walked through a model home before I left Austin in which they had done the whole entire house in this pallette. It was beautiful! Sounds strange, I know. I wish now that I would have taken pictures. I guess we will have to depend on these web pics to help me describe the awesome-ness of these to colors together. If you need a good yellow or grey color to paint with, leave a comment, I would be happy to give you a couple options. Keep in mind that yellow is very difficult to choose! It can really come out all wrong...

I am actually working on a model apartment right now in which I am using these colors to update existing pieces. Check back in a few days for those postings!

Black n White with a SPLASH!

I redid my dining room in my own home this last month. My vision was to use a black/gray/white pallette and accent with my favorite greens. I also wanted to use silver in a bunch of places, so I painted my red ceiling silver. Its very strange, because this was just my vision, I didn't think that I got the "idea" from anywhere, until I searched the internet. WOW...these type of rooms are everywhere. I guess I am not that unique afterall. It is amazing that your brain is always taking in your surroundings, because I must have picked this up from somewhere. Anyways, thought I would share the pics. Maybe one will inspire you!

By the way - I really need to invest in a good camera. The green in this room is very bright, but not so much in the pictures. You might just have to use your imagination today :) And in comparison to the rest of these rooms, they put mine to shame. But it is a more realistic view of what yours might look like. Most of these rooms below probably had a budget of around $15-20k, mine is old funiture restored off Ebay, and I probably spent a total of $600 combined with paint/furniture/accessories...

Stripes Stripes Stripes. I love them sooooo much. Most of these are done with wallpaper, but if you want to have something customized and cheaper, painting is the way to go. It sure takes a lot of patience, but the outcome it amazing and dramatic. Stripes are so universal and can be used in traditional or contemporary spaces. You don't have to over accessorize these rooms because the stripes do it for you.
